DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug treatment as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could be ordered to treatment either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of staying out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which set off their substance abuse. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug abuse when they drive while drunk or high in the future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
