DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug treatment facilities are either there on their own accord, but generally in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be required to go to rehab either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their substance abuse should they drive while drunk or high in the future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
