Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any sort of drug rehabilitation program because of a drug or alcohol related criminal offense. This will happen for instance if someone else is convicted of a DUI or DWI, or for any other type of drug related offense which has led a legal court to believe the individual has any type of drug abuse issue. Not every person has the option of getting involved in an alcohol and drug rehab facility as a criminal justice client, however, if this option is ordered from the court it is well advised that the individual do everything they are able to to take full advantage of this opportunity. In many cases, other penalties and consequences could be entirely eliminated or lessened if the individual does well in treatment and completes the drug and alcohol rehab program that is ordered for them. New offenders will be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients that do take part in treatment instead of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to jail time or similar consequences. Ultimately, it saves the court system both time and money when criminal justice clients obtain effective rehabilitation.
