DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of staying out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their substance abuse. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while drunk or high down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
