Long-term rehabs that provide treatment for 30 days are more offer an intensely therapeutic environment for client's whose needs call for this, as is the case with most individuals with a significant history of drug or alcohol use. It is the general consensus among treatment experts, and experience has shown, that people with significant drug abuse histories have much higher long-term results in the event the rehab length is 30 days or more. Much more significant benefits are evident for those clients who remain in long-term residential rehab for 3 months or longer. The intensive treatment plans in place at long-term residential rehabs could be more time consuming for rehab experts and the client, but anything less is proven to be inadequate. This really is simply because anything under 30 days is barely likely to scratch the surface of any drug abuse issue which may haunt the person once they leave treatment. To become physically stable usually takes many days or even a couple weeks, but a great deal of time after this is necessary to handle the environmental, emotional, and mental aspects of their addiction which may cause a relapse after they leave an alcohol and drug rehab facility.
