DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug rehab centers are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be ordered to treatment either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of staying out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their substance abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated later on. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
