DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol treatment programs are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug rehab as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug abuse whenever they drive while under the influence in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
