Criminal justice clients are people who are in any type of drug and alcohol rehab center due to a drug or alcohol related criminal offense. This will occur for instance when someone is found guilty of drunk driving or DWI, and for any other kind of drug related crime which has led a legal court to think the individual has any kind of drug abuse issue. Not every person has the option of taking part in a drug treatment center as a criminal justice client, but when this option is ordered from the judge it is strongly advised that the individual do everything they are able to to get the most from this opportunity. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences can be completely eradicated or lessened if the individual does well in treatment and finishes the drug rehabilitation center that has been ordered for them. First time offenders are the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been verified that criminal justice clients who take part in treatment in place of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to prison time or similar consequences. In the end, it saves the court system both money and time when criminal justice clients receive effective treatment.
