DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug treatment due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This can truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while intoxicated later on. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
