DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug and alcohol rehab programs are either there by their own choice, but usually in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders might be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while under the influence down the road. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
