DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders may be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of remaining out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while intoxicated later on. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
