DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be ordered to treatment either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while intoxicated later on. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
