DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug rehabilitation centers are either there on their own accord, but generally in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could possibly be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse should they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
