DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug rehab centers are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug rehab due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to treatment either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their substance abuse should they drive while drunk or high down the road. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
