DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol rehab centers are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug abuse. This will certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse should they drive while drunk or high in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
