DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol rehab programs are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug rehab as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders may be required to go to treatment either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system.
