DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug treatment programs are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could possibly be ordered to rehab either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of staying out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse.
