Criminal justice clients are those who are in any type of drug rehab program as a result of a drug or alcohol related crime. This can occur for instance when someone is convicted of a DUI or DWI, and for any other type of drug related offense which has led the court to believe that the individual has any sort of substance abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol treatment program as a criminal justice client, but when this option is ordered from the judge it is strongly advised that the individual do everything they can to benefit from this chance. In many cases, other penalties and consequences might be totally eliminated or lessened if the individual does well in treatment and completes the drug rehab center which has been ordered for them. First time offenders will be the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients who do take part in rehab instead of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to time in jail or receive other penalties. In the end, it saves a legal court system both money and time when criminal justice clients receive powerful rehabilitation.
