DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehab programs are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug treatment due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug abuse should they drive while drunk or high in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
