DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug treatment programs are generally there on their own accord, but generally in drug and alcohol rehabilitation as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be required to go to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of staying out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug abuse. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while drunk or high later on. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
