DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol rehab programs are generally there on their own accord, but usually in alcohol and drug rehabilitation as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be ordered to treatment either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse should they drive while drunk or high in the future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
