DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehabilitation centers are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could possibly be required to go to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while under the influence later on.
