Criminal justice clients are those who are in any kind of drug and alcohol rehabilitation program as a result of a drug or alcohol related criminal offense. This can occur for example if someone else is found guilty of a DUI or DWI, or for any other kind of drug related crime that has led the court to think the individual has any type of substance abuse issue. Not every person has the option of taking part in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center as a criminal justice client, but if this approach is ordered by the court it's wise that the individual do everything they are able to to benefit from this chance. Oftentimes, other penalties and consequences might be completely eliminated or lessened when the individual does well in treatment and completes the drug and alcohol rehabilitation center that is ordered for them. New offenders will be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been verified that criminal justice clients that do experience treatment in place of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to time in jail or receive other penalties. In the long run, it saves a legal court system both time and money when criminal justice clients obtain effective treatment.
