DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug rehab facilities are generally there by their own choice, but usually in drug treatment as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that those who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of staying out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug abuse should they drive while drunk or high down the road. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
