It has been proven that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse should they drive while under the influence in the future.
