DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug treatment as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to rehab either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug abuse. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while drunk or high down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
