DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug treatment centers are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug treatment as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could possibly be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while intoxicated in the future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
