DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could be required to go to treatment either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while intoxicated in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
