DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug rehabilitation centers are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug treatment due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders may be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of remaining out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while under the influence down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
