DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug treatment centers are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehab as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could possibly be required to go to treatment either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug abuse should they drive while intoxicated down the road. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
