DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future.
