DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol rehab centers are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug rehab due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could possibly be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of remaining out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their substance abuse if they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
