Criminal justice clients are those who are in any type of drug rehabilitation program because of a drug or alcohol related crime. This will happen for example if someone else is found guilty of drunk driving or DWI, and for any other type of drug related offense that has led the judge to think that the individual has any sort of drug abuse issue. Not everybody has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center as a criminal justice client, but if this approach is ordered by the judge it is wise that the individual do everything they can to take full advantage of this chance. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences might be totally eradicated or lessened when the individual succeeds in rehab and finishes the alcohol and drug rehab program which was ordered for them. First time offenders will be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients who take part in rehabilitation in lieu of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than people who find themselves ordered to incarceration or similar consequences. Ultimately, it saves the court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients obtain effective treatment.
