DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug treatment programs are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be ordered to rehab either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of staying out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while under the influence down the road. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
