Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any kind of alcohol and drug rehab program as a result of a drug or alcohol related criminal offense. This will occur for example if someone else is convicted of a DUI or DWI, or any other kind of drug related criminal offense that has led a legal court to believe that the individual has any kind of substance abuse issue. Not everybody has the option of getting involved in an alcohol and drug rehab program as a criminal justice client, but when this approach is ordered through the judge it's well advised that the individual try everything they can to make the most of this chance. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences could be entirely eradicated or lessened in the event the individual does well in rehabilitation and finishes the alcohol and drug rehabilitation program that has been ordered for them. First time offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients that do take part in treatment instead of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than people who find themselves ordered to time in jail or similar consequences. Eventually, it saves a legal court system both money and time when criminal justice clients receive effective rehabilitation.
