DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehabilitation programs are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of remaining out from the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while under the influence in the future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
