Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any kind of drug and alcohol rehab program because of a drug or alcohol related offense. This can occur for example if someone else is found guilty of drunk driving or DWI, and for any other type of drug related offense that has led the judge to think that the individual has any type of substance abuse issue. Not every person has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol rehab facility as a criminal justice client, however, if this option is ordered through the judge it is well advised that the individual try everything they can to take full advantage of this opportunity. In many cases, other penalties and consequences could be totally eliminated or lessened in the event the individual does well in treatment and completes the drug treatment center that is ordered for them. First-time offenders would be the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients who do take part in rehab in lieu of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to incarceration or similar consequences. In the long run, it saves a legal court system both money and time when criminal justice clients receive powerful rehabilitation.
