DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol rehab programs are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug rehab as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders may be required to go to treatment either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of staying out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their substance abuse if they drive while intoxicated in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
