DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol treatment facilities are either there by their own choice, but generally in drug treatment as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be ordered to rehab either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while drunk or high later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
