Criminal justice clients are those who are in any sort of alcohol and drug treatment facility due to a drug or alcohol related offense. This can occur for example if someone is found guilty of drunk driving or DWI, or any other type of drug related offense that has led the judge to believe the individual has any sort of drug or alcohol use issue. Not every person has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol treatment facility as a criminal justice client, however, if this option is ordered through the judge it's well advised that the individual try everything they can to benefit from this opportunity. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences could be totally eliminated or lessened if the individual does well in rehabilitation and completes the drug and alcohol rehab facility which was ordered for them. Very first time offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients who do experience treatment in lieu of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to incarceration or similar consequences.
