DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the court system than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while drunk or high down the road.
