DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol treatment facilities are generally there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could be ordered to rehab either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug abuse when they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
