Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any sort of drug rehabilitation facility because of alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This can occur for example if someone is found guilty of drunk driving or DWI, and for any other type of drug related offense that has led the court to think the individual has any sort of drug abuse issue. Not every person has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility as a criminal justice client, however, if this option is ordered by the judge it's strongly advised that the individual try everything they can to make the most of this opportunity. Most of the time, other penalties and consequences could be entirely eliminated or lessened when the individual succeeds in treatment and finishes the alcohol and drug treatment facility that has been ordered for them. First-time offenders are the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients that experience treatment in place of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to prison time or receive other penalties. In the long run, it saves the court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients obtain effective treatment.
