DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in alcohol and drug rehab facilities are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehab as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders might be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of staying out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while intoxicated in the foreseeable future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
