Criminal justice clients are people who are in any type of drug and alcohol rehab program due to a drug or alcohol related criminal offense. This will happen for example if someone else is convicted of a DUI or DWI, and for any other type of drug related crime which has led the judge to think that the individual has any kind of drug or alcohol use issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center as a criminal justice client, however, if this approach is ordered from the judge it's well advised that the individual do everything they are able to to get the most from this opportunity. In many cases, other penalties and consequences may be completely eliminated or lessened when the individual does well in treatment and finishes the alcohol and drug treatment center that has been ordered for them. First-time offenders are the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been verified that criminal justice clients who experience treatment in place of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to prison time or receive other penalties. Ultimately, it saves a legal court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients obtain effective rehab.
