DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehab centers are generally there by their own choice, but generally in alcohol and drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders could be required to go to rehab either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while drunk or high in the future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
