DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug rehabilitation facilities are either there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could possibly be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their substance abuse when they drive while drunk or high in the future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
