Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any kind of alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility as a result of a drug or alcohol related offense. This will occur for example if someone is found guilty of driving under the influence or DWI, or for any other kind of drug related offense which has led the judge to believe that the individual has any kind of drug or alcohol use issue. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences may be entirely eradicated or lessened in the event the individual does well in rehab and completes the drug rehab facility which has been ordered for them. First-time offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients that do experience treatment instead of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to time in jail or receive other penalties. Eventually, it saves the court system both money and time when criminal justice clients obtain effective rehabilitation.
