DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehab centers are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehabilitation as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while drunk or high later on.
