DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug rehabilitation programs are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of remaining out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug abuse if they drive while intoxicated later on. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
